Doggie Cakes - Subject of Examiner.com Article

Doggie Cakes - Dog Bakery and Boutique was the subject of an article from Examiner.com today. We met the author, Laura Kepner, at the January - Third Friday Music Series in Safety Harbor, when she visited our vendor booth. She specializes in articles about pets and animals for this source. An excerpt from the much appreciated article is below.
A lovely display of treats caught my eye. Had there not been leashes and collars hanging from the booth, I might not have known that the goodies were actually treats for dogs!

Jack Russels Need Rescue - North GA and South FL

I'm posting this right from an e-mail that we received from Marilyn Wolf - local dog trainer.
There is a puppy mill in North GA that has a lot of Jack Russells that need rescuing. There is a woman out of Bradenton who is coordinating the rescue efforts
questions@barkparkdogdaycare.com. She has gotten a couple of private pilots who are willing to fly the dogs from GA to St. Pete/Clw airport once a month. The problem is she needs more fosters (or permanent homes). There are everything from puppies to senior dogs. The worst thing is they live outside and you know how bad it has been here. In the Georgia Mtns. it's been worse. The older dogs are super skittish and need a lot of patience. If anyone can help or knows someone who can, please let me know. THANKS!

SPCA Suncoast - Urges Reduced Apartment Pet Policy Restrictions

The SPCA Suncoast was on Fox 13 News today, along with Tattoo the dachshund and his story. Presented was a huge problem of home foreclosure and pet restrictions in apartment complexes. Martha Murry, Director of the SPCA Suncoast and Devlynn Saunders, Operations Manager are on a mission to lobby the owners of apartments and corporate managment companies to ease restrictions on their pet policies. Families are trying to keep their dog and cat family members until the last possible moment, but many are forced to leave their pets in local shelters.
Saunders is leading the effort to convince more apartment complex companies to accept pets that may otherwise end up in a shelter. She urges pet owners to have a “pet Resume.”It would include such things as medical records and obedience courses.
